My groups driving question is How do the adaptations of christian pedagogy in Hollywood films impact our world views? Some of the revisions we made to prepare to turn in our project is knowing what to sy during our presentations and explaining everything thoroughly towards our audience. What I learned about my topic that I didn't know before is many people rather believe in Hollywood films other than listen to church because in Hollywood films is makes is more real towards them, while in church they just preach it towards you. The thing I learned about scholarly research during this project is knowing how to find credible sources and knowing how to find important information in articles. In addition, what I learned about the art oral presentation is it represents a lot about many people have many different perspectives based on if you should listen to religious beliefs or believe in more Hollywood films. What I learned about our student lead research is when many people see apocalyptic films it makes it feel real towards them and it makes them want to explore the unknown by predicting when the Apocalypse will occur. In my perspective my groups collaboration worked well because we all worked together to finish the ISD and make the creative pieces that went on our board. If we would have done something differently towards our project it would be coming up with a different interactive piece to go with our presentation. A piece advice I would give some who is doing it for the next up coming year for Symposium is working in a timely matter in order to turn in assignments on time.
How do the Adaptations Of Christian Pedagogy In Hollywood Films Impact Our Worldviews?
Since the last time I wrote about my research I have learned from my topic that people would rather see Hollywood films as the bible to portray how the end would come or who could be seen as a savior for humanity. What I have learned about myself and working with others is being dedicated to finishing up our ISD and working with my group members well. To make sure our trifold board background and imagery connects to our Universal theme, Generalizations, and topic we have decided to have one side of the board theater curtains and the other side with a stone wall to represent the church wall ,and show how the theater is creating its own saviors and perspective of the apocalypse while on the other hand the church shows that god is the only savior and how the bible views the afterlife. For our component on our background board supplement we have cross and film demonstrating how Hollywood films are taking over religious beliefs. In addition, to our creative piece supplement we are also having two hands holding the bible and with the film inside of it to demonstrate how Hollywood films are taking over the bible and making false statements. The next steps for completing my group's project is finishing up the creative piece which is the two hand holding the bible, the chairs for the church and theater side, and starting the Mural. So far in my perspective my groups collaboration has been going on really good. We are all communicating to each other and letting everyone speak what they think should be best or what we could do differently.
Since my last reflection we have changed our topic from the flaws of the education system around the world to our first option we began with which is the Hollywood religious Pedagogy. By changing our topic to Hollywood religious Pedagogy we have learned that Disney movies(with the death scenes of course) could help children to understand death and be a starting factor for adults to talk to children about what death really is. Our groups driving question did not change because when we had the topic the flaws of education system around the world we did not have the driving question ready to get it approved. The one thing we changed since my last reflection was our topic from the flaws of education system around the world to Hollywood religious Pedagogy because my group was not passionate about learning how the education system around the world works. After we had gotten our symposium driving question approved we decided to do our student-lead research by interviewing two experts. One of the experts that we are going to interview is Erin Runions who is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Pomona College. And the other expert to help us through our student lead research is Robert K. Johnston who is a Professor of Theology and Culture school of Theology. By Interviewing these two experts we could have on overview on Hollywood religious pedagogy. Throughout this process it has been easy because we have gotten our five questions approved by our teacher and we are ready to email them to our experts. In my groups next step to complete this component is writing down what the experts to have have is ready to display on our trifold board. So far in my perspective my groups collaboration has been going on really good. To start off, working in the Gate Symposium in the year 2017 it has been a great, unique, and helpful experience to me. In my group of 3 people our topic is the flaws of the education system around the world. In my group we found in one of the articles so far that education has the necessary factors to let children understand the world they live in to appreciate it and understand its challenges. This can relate to the universal theme and the generalization by showing the system schools have to complete a mission. To continue on with our group topic the flaws of the education system around the world research we also found in an article so far that 35% would recommend the job 57 % said urge the child to go to college and forget the job. This can relate to the universal theme and the generalization by showing the system of education by being influenced by other systems. So far in the exploration of my group's topic we have learned that education is all over the world and impact many people’s lives. In our exploration of the topic the flaws of the education system around the world my group has decided to change our topic because we talked with our mentor and were convinced that it in education there are millions of flaws that can impact many lives. So my groups next topic choice was apocalypse. In my groups next step I hope to find more information on our new topic apocalypse.
